CIVILIAN PERSONNEL FLIGHT OSAN AIR BASE

POSITION TITLE & GRADE: Child Development Program Technician, KGS-1702-05
SALARY: Between 18696 – 26829 won per hour (Total hourly compensation when bonuses are included.)
DUTY LOCATION: 51st Force Support Squadron/Child & Youth Services Flight, Child Development, Osan AB.
AREA OF CONSIDERATION: All current employees assigned with United States Air Force, Korea (USAFK)
(Priority Group 5).
NOTE: Newly hired NAF employees are required to serve no less than one year in the position to which they are initially hired before they can voluntarily accept any other position unless approved by management. Relocation allowance is not authorized for USFK employees selected from outside the commuting area.
MAJOR DUTIES: Leads Child Development staff within a classroom while providing a developmentally appropriate program for children and their families. Arranges the classroom to promote a safe and healthy learning environment. Conducts daily inspections of the room and playground and notifies supervisor of any deficiencies. Regularly observes children’s state of health and well being. Develops programs which promote the growth of each child in the group. Uses observations of individual children to plan appropriate learning objectives for children’s development using culturally diverse activities, language opportunities, and creative explorations. Regularly implements culturally diverse activities. Consistently uses positive guidance techniques to develop children’s social skills. Consistently establishes daily routines to ensure smooth transition periods between activities. Maintains effective communication with parents. Conducts parent conferences to relate assessment information to parents and offer support for dealing with children at different stages of development. Actively encourages participation of the families in center activities through daily conversations, monthly newsletter, etc.. Consistently ensure that the confidentially of the children and families using the center is maintained. Develops and maintains good working relationships. Reflects and encourages a positive, can-do attitude towards classroom responsibilities denoting a service-oriented posture. Works cooperatively with others, observes channels of communication and protocol as appropriate. Discusses problems in a helpful and constructive manner. Interacts with others in a courteous and professional manner. Continually informs supervisor of significant events associated with work assignments. Ensures that the classroom complies with the elements outlined in the AF Inspection Checklist and ensures adequate supplies and equipment are maintained in the classroom. Regularly participates in ongoing staff meetings and workshops to improve personal professional skills. Maintains a consistent effort to complete the Air Force Competency Based modules within the time limits prescribed by Air Force regulations. Consistently provides guidance for less experienced staff. Performs tasks as required for the ongoing operations of the programs. Develops and submits requests for commissary supplies, injury forms, and attendance forms in a timely manner. Contributes to effective program management. Develops and implements weekly lesson plans. Submits lesson plans to the trainer in a timely manner. Continuously prepares and maintains records to detail the progress of each child. Prepares clear and concise correspondence and reports as required. Performs other duties as assigned.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:
EXPEREINCE: One (1) year of specialized experience at grade level of KGS-04 or equivalent.
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Experience which has equipped the candidate with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities (KSAs) to successfully perform the duties of the position. To be credited, specialized experience must have been at least equivalent to the next lower grade level.
CONDITION OF EMPLOYMENT:
a. Appointment is subject to completion of a favorable background checks to determine suitability for this position.
b. Immunization may be required for the health and safety of those in the facility.
SUBSTITUTION OF EDUCATION FOR EXPERIENCE: Successfully completed education of four years above the high school level in a ROKG authorized or recognized university may be substituted for the experience required at grade KGS-05.
ENGLISH LANGUAGE COMPETENCY: 1. The American Language Course Placement Test (ALCPT) score of 60 or above and successfully passing the English Comprehension Interview (ECI) is required.
2. The Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) score of 430 and higher the Test of English for International Communication (TOEIC) score of 450 and higher may be substituted for ALCPT requirement. Applicant must submit the TOEFL/TOEIC official copies of test score. TOEFL and TOEIC scores are valid for two years from the exam date. (TOEFL 또는 TOEIC 성적이 2년 만료일이 지났을경우 갱신된 성적을 제출 바랍니다.)
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITY (KSA’s): Applicants must have demonstrated possession of the following KSA’s essential to the performance of the duties of the positions:
a. Knowledge of child development, theory, methodology, and practices relating to physical, social, emotional development.
b. Knowledge of child development regulatory requirements, policies and practices.
c. Skill in educating, counseling, and advising child development program assistants and technicians and parents through assessments of training needs in conjunction with the CDC director or assistant CDC director.
d. Ability to provide a safe and healthy environment.
e. Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing with a diverse group of individuals.
f. Ability to develop and maintain good working relationships.
